In 2006, while meeting at Kuyper College, we first participated in Operation Christmas Child. At the Woodland Association Annual Meeting, the churches were challenged to participated in Operation Christmas Child by filling shoeboxes with small inexpensive gifts suitable for a boy or girl in three different age groups. This could include school supplies or dollar store toys, or other gifts that are primarily found on their recommended list.

Girl with presents

Gloria Nowakowski, ABC’s coordinator, set a goal for 10 shoe boxes for our church. Each Sunday, information and stories were shared about the shoe box gifts. The church was equal to the task and, on collection Sunday, a decorated wagon was filled with 25 shoe boxes and brought before the church for a special prayer of dedication.

For 2007, Gloria is challenging the church to collect 40 boxes. Promotion began September 16. Collection day is November 11.

Remember: the 2007 collection day is November 11!!
